Intussusception

Transient segmental intussusception seen in mid-small bowel in a patient with unexplained abdominal pain and anemia. A short segment of jejunum apprears to be prolapsed forward into the lumen up ahead of the capsule. This segment can be seen to shorten and lengthen as peristaltic contractions pass through. Passage of the capsule was delayed at this point for greater than 35 minutes before forward progress resumed.

Photo at LEFT shows the prolapsed segment viewed en face. The lumen is where the mucoid fluid is white. The image at CENTER shows the prolapsed segment viewed from the side. The location of the lumen of the prolapsed segment is indicated by the arrow in the image at RIGHT.
